Throughout the year you will be receiving many different assessments from your child which are to be signed and returned.
-Assessments are sent home to keep you informed of your childs progress as well as any challenges your child may be having. There are many forms of assessment that will be sent home. Assessment as, which is assessments given to them as they are learning concepts throughout the units. Assessments of their learning which occurs at the end of a unit once your child has been taught the concept.
- Some assessments have a star and an arrow at the bottom which highlights your childs success as well as their next steps to improve their work.
- Each piece of work your child completes in language, math, social studies, science ext. are graded based on 1 or more of these categories:
1) Thinking
2) Knowledge and understanding
3) Application
4) Communication
These categories are weighted and your childs final grade is determined by looking at all the categories combined with in class participation, and in class observation.
