Sentence Rules
For the next few days in class we will be covering the 4 different rules for writing a sentence.
Rule 1: A sentence has a complete thought. Every sentence has two parts.
Rule 2: A sentence begins with a capital letter.
Rule 3: A sentence needs end punctuation!
Rule 4: The names of people and pets begin with capital letters (proper nouns).
Stretch a sentence
Its important to give our sentences LOTS of details in grade 3. This is a simple guide to make sure your sentences are WOW worthy sentences. ASK YOURSELF DID MY SENTENCE ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS?
Who? my cute puppy
What? My cute puppy curls up.
Where? My cute puppy curls up on the rug.
When? My cute puppy curls up on the rug each night.
Why? My cute puppy curls up on the rug each night to chew his bone.
