*EQAO normally occurs for 3 days within the last 2 weeks of May, first week of June. Once the date is decided we will inform you when the grade 3 students will be writing.
The Assessments of Reading, Writing and Mathematics Primary (Grades 1-3) and Junior (Grades 4-6) are based on the reading, writing and mathematics expectations in The Ontario Curriculum, Grades 1-8.
It is important to note that we start preparing our grade 3's for EQAO at the very beginning of they year. Throughout the year they will see questions on tests and assessments in the EQAO format (ex. multiple choice) for math. For literacy they will be exposed to different pieces of writing, learn how to better formulate answers and how to analyse EQAO texts. By doing this consistently as part of an everyday routine our students will feel more comfortable with the EQAO assessment.
Please see below key terms that students will see on the EQAO assessment. We are going over these in class and they will continue to see these terms in their day to day work.
Reminder of math vocabulary that students will see on EQAO. Knowing what the action words are associated with will help students answer the questions correctly.
