Welcome to our grade 3 website where we will share important information and additional resources that will help enhance your child's learning. The transition from grade 2 to 3 can be overwhelming at times for the children and that's why we encourage open communication between home and school. Please feel free to write a note in the agenda or contact us at the school if you have any questions or concerns.
Your child is very important to our classroom community and it is our goal to ensure that every student feels secure and included. In our class we will discuss what it means to be a good friend and how we can work together to build a fun, trusting classroom where each child is treated with respect. We will also discuss the idea that mistakes are part of the learning process and we should all feel comfortable to share our ideas even if it means we make mistakes along the way!
At St. Brigid believe that the foundation of Catholic education is strengthened by the cooperative relationship between home, school, and parish. As parents, you are the primary educators of your children. The ongoing theme for our Grade 3 year is Community. Please see the tab 'Our Faith' tab at the top of this page for further information about this theme as well as our monthly value.
Some general expectations of the grade 3 program include nightly reading, completion of any unfinished work and review of concepts taught in class. Your child will not get work assigned for homework, however your child will be expected to bring unfinished classwork home to complete; there will also be a french and english word study each week. We encourage you to read with your child for 20 minutes each day in french and english. Your child's marks are based on a number of factors such as tests and quizzes, observation, participation, group work and in class assignments.
I look forward to getting to know your child and family this school year.
